PreK registration starts in March at the Board of Education. Students will be selected using a lottery/draw system. All applications will be grouped by attendance zone and applications will be selected through this draw system until all prekindergarten slots are filled in each attendance zone. H1N1 Vaccination Clinics The Walton County Health Department has received a large shipment of H1N1 vaccine. Anyone under the age of 65 who meets the current guidelines, including all school age children, can receive the vaccination. The vaccine will be given free of charge. Walton County Public Schools consist of nine elementary, three middle, and three high schools plus one alternative school, a performance learning center, and the Walton Career Academy.
Walton County voters approved the passage and extension of ELOST to provide funding for several needed projects. Some of these projects include the new Youth Middle School which opened in the fall of 2004, the new Monroe High School which opened in the fall of 2005, the new Monroe Elementary School which opened in January of 2007, the new Sharon Elementary School which opened in the fall of 2007, the new Walnut Grove High School which opened in the fall of 2009, and the new Blaine Street Elementary, scheduled to open in January of 2011.
